CDL-A Owner Operators – Local & Regional Opportunities

Multiple Locations | Home-Daily Opportunities | Steady Port, Rail & Regional Freight

HUDD Transportation is seeking CDL-A Owner Operators for opportunities across multiple terminals. With freight available in Savannah, Chicago/Elwood, Memphis, Mobile, New Orleans, Houston, and Norfolk , drivers can access a strong mix of local, port, rail, and regional work with dependable freight and flexible earning opportunities.

Depending on the terminal and workload, typical weekly gross earnings range from approximately $1,000 to $6,000 , with several markets offering home-daily or primarily home-daily opportunities.

Available Locations & Earning Potential

Savannah, GA – SAV Terminal

Typical weekly pay is approximately $2,800–$5,000+ . Local volume can reach 4–5 moves per day, with Statesboro volume averaging 2–3 moves per day and road freight typically providing one move per day.

Average local moves pay about $140 including FSC , while Atlanta-area moves pay approximately $1,000 including FSC . Drivers have access to a mix of local, road, and regional opportunities.

Chicago / Elwood, IL – ELW Terminal

Typical weekly pay is approximately $6,000 , with drivers generally completing 20–30 moves per week .

Pay per move is approximately $175–$220 , with daily earnings around $1,200. Freight includes Chicago-Elwood crosstown moves, I-55 corridor freight, rail ramp-to-ramp, rail-to-customer moves, and regional freight throughout surrounding Midwest states.

Approximately 80% of freight is drop-and-hook .

Memphis, TN – MEM Terminal

Typical weekly earnings range from approximately $2,000–$4,000+ , depending on workload.

Drivers typically complete 2–3 local turns per day , sometimes four depending on traffic and facility hours. Regional volume is typically around one run per day.

Lane rates vary by route from approximately $120 to $2,109 roundtrip plus FSC . Most drivers are home daily, with the Garden City, GA run being the primary exception.

Mobile, AL – MOB Terminal

Drivers average approximately $2,500 per week , with pay per move varying by lane from approximately $70–$1,100+ .

Typical volume is 1–2 turns per day , depending on distance. Opportunities include both local and longer regional freight throughout Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida.

New Orleans, LA – NO Terminal

Typical weekly earnings are approximately $1,000–$2,000+ .

Local moves pay approximately $200–$225 , while regional moves pay approximately $450–$630 plus FSC . Local Bayer lanes typically provide two turns per day, while regional Yokohama lanes generally provide one run per day.

Most drivers are home daily.

Houston, TX – HOU Terminal

Typical weekly pay is approximately $3,500 gross for a standard driver taking freight as dispatched.

Freight is approximately 95% drop-and-pick , with work centered around the Port of Houston, Greater Houston, the I-10 corridor, and regional markets. Drivers are generally pre-dispatched the day before, with moves visible in the app.

Norfolk, VA – CPK Terminal

Typical weekly earnings range from approximately $3,000–$5,000 , with daily earnings of approximately $600–$1,000 .

Drivers typically complete 2–3 moves per day and 12–15 moves per week . The operation includes a combination of local and regional runs with steady freight out of Norfolk.

This opportunity is designed for independent trucking companies, independent contractors, and small fleet owners that provide their own tractors and qualified drivers and are looking to add consistent freight to their operation.

HUDD offers access to established freight networks, local and regional opportunities, pre-dispatched freight, and driver-focused operational support. Earnings and freight volume vary by terminal, lane, availability, and the amount of freight your operation chooses to service.

Los Angeles, CA – LOS Terminal

The Los Angeles operation offers a combination of local port work and higher-earning Inland Empire freight , with approximately 20–30+ moves available per week .

Typical volume is approximately 4–6 moves per day , depending on freight availability and your operation's capacity.

Typical Earnings & Volume:

  • Local moves average approximately $121 per move
  • Inland Empire moves average approximately $255.50 per move
  • Local weekly earnings average approximately $2,500
  • Inland Empire weekly earnings average approximately $5,500

Pre-dispatch is preferred for empty and loaded port moves, and higher-earning Inland Empire runs are available. HUDD works to minimize dry runs and maximize productivity.

Typical markets include Carson, Long Beach, Torrance, Santa Fe Springs, Beaumont, San Bernardino, Ontario, Fontana, and Chino, CA .

Newark, NJ – EWR Terminal

The Newark operation provides steady local New Jersey freight along with select regional opportunities into Pennsylvania and Maryland .

Typical volume is approximately 4–5 moves per day and 20–25 moves per week .

Typical Earnings & Volume:

  • Approximately $600–$1,000 per day
  • Approximately $3,000–$5,000 per week
  • 20–25 moves per week
  • Primarily local New Jersey turns
  • Select regional freight into Pennsylvania and Maryland
  • Home-daily potential depending on lanes
  • Pre-dispatched local and regional moves

Typical markets include Newark, Kearny, Carteret and North Bergen, NJ; Easton and Breinigsville, PA; and Hagerstown, MD .

Who HUDD Is Looking For

HUDD is looking to partner with professional, safety-focused transportation providers capable of reliably servicing committed freight.

Subhaulers should be established independent trucking businesses or contractors that can supply their own equipment and qualified drivers while maintaining the regulatory, safety, insurance, and operational standards required by HUDD.

HUDD Subhauler Requirements

To qualify as a HUDD Subhauler/Subcontractor, your operation should:

  • Be an independent trucking company, independent contractor, or small fleet owner
  • Maintain active operating authority
  • Maintain appropriate USDOT/MC authority and acceptable FMCSA status
  • Maintain an acceptable FMCSA safety and compliance history
  • Provide your own tractor(s)
  • Provide your own qualified driver(s)
  • Maintain required HUDD insurance coverage
  • Be responsible for fuel, tractor maintenance, repairs, and other carrier operating expenses
  • Maintain proper apportioned registration/plates , where applicable
  • Ensure all drivers supplied to HUDD meet applicable FMCSA qualifications
  • Complete and document required drug and alcohol screening
  • Complete and document required driver background checks
  • Ensure applicable drivers maintain TWIC cards for port work
  • Meet terminal, customer, and cargo-specific equipment requirements
  • Complete the HUDD carrier/subhauler agreement
  • Complete Vendor ID/vendor setup
  • Complete settlement/payment setup
  • Complete dispatch and operational setup
  • Receive HUDD Safety approval
  • Complete required training
  • Maintain sufficient equipment and driver availability to service committed HUDD freight
